Hardware and Software are the two main organs on which a computer works. Hardware and Software, both are required for the functioning of computer, right from start till end. The term computer software is used for the collection of computer programs, documents and procedure that helps to perform some task of computer system. While hardware consists of the external devices which uses the software to be secured and the helps in not losing any file or document.

Computer was one of the greatest inventions by a human mankind and has made the life easier and smooth. Although the introduction of computer came to India very late and now everywhere a computer is required may it be any industry. One can even say that this is very growing industry and the demand for the same will not stop and has great prospects. Growing industry also includes monetary growth. Computer software are prepared In United States, they have a big experimental office and qualified engineers working on various projects. United States is the country with maximum number of exports in computer software. Majorly all new software is invented in America itself. This software once invented get themselves registered so that no other company can ever copy them and than these software are exported to various countries as per the country needs and demand. Similarly, new hardware are discovered to make the computer Compaq and the functioning smoother and easier. United States generate lots of revenue through the export of computer software and hardware. China is one of the countries for the manufacturing of maximum hardware. Qualified engineers are required for both hardware and software designing.

From the point of view of Indian business, India imports a lot of software that are needed for making many works simpler. For example Tally is one of the software that makes the accounts very simpler. India also manufactures many types of software according to their business need. That is now India doesn’t have to be depended on foreign countries for small software. There are many types of software required according to the type of industries and all these software are manufactured in India itself. And for hardware it is now happened that the all computer savvy knows the operation and lot of these software and hardware engineers are exported to foreign countries. Not only is these the softwares which are manufactured in India are exported to foreign countries and a good revenue generated through it. Gradually this industry is developing a lot with many expectations in India and has high prospects for India. Study of software and hardware in India is given a lot of importance and a lot qualified engineers are being coming out who have demand in foreign countries also.

Before one understands this mystery, three factors are to be known for revealing the mathematics of any market players:

a) Demand and Supply

b) Quality at competitive rate

c) Growth for survival in tough competition

I remember, last Saturday I got a call from a senior president of a MNC, saying that I am looking for new marketplace but cant make as to where shall I go for and especially when the management is insisting for fast set up of new supply chain in new markets but I am afraid with global melt down of economy, since, it has broken the backbone of every company irrespective of country.

I started to deal the situation with certain things which I am just reiterating so that some one can use it as to why new markets are required. New Markets can be set up by adopting any of the ways as is practiced by the global players:

a) Setting up a subsidiary unit

b) Making up channel sales force

c) Making business associates

d) Making assignment based agents

e) Generating continuous leads for business deals

People may choose as per their best economy, nature of business and longetivity of business interest. But, the gentleman was sounding over enthusiastic and even said ,…….yes , Mr Becker , I know this all but my problem is still as such and repeated it as well for times .This made me to finally ask him to accompany me over tea which longed to dinner.

In our first sitting, he had a very long brain storming session and he was only interested to know an answer to why? Instead of knowing how to do it so, let us name it “Why Session” Why Session New Market means more business and new business as well. In other words means more profit and revenue irrespective of its sustainability.

Again the same question cropped as to why new market, of course! For this I am paid for and companies make business out of such advises.

a) What is the meaning of new market?

b) How to explore new market?

c) Which market will be the best new market?

All the aforesaid questions have simple answer as discussed below. It can be understood by simple formula of demand and supply. Where there is demand which is sustainable and with better prospects will be considered as new market. The new market can be within the territory of one’s country or may even cross the barrier of international market. If demand is more in a new market, then it is always advisable for exploring a new market. The market can be explored with better pricing with best quality, since the golden rule is quality should always command the pricing factor and pricing factor always follow quality factor. Since, both are incomplete without each other and compliment vice versa.

As already said, the new market could be explored with new subsidiary, joint venture, partnerships, business associates, deployment of work force or even without substantial investment by way of continuous generation of business leads , may be a B2b platform or b2b portal can get business leads for you like www.made-from-india.com,which I recently saw and seems to be a promising one for global traders and exporters.

Exploring new markets can be even by way of launching your product in unexplored areas of one’s country and even exporting the product to a particular country where best demand is there. The result will be more demand will always give better pricing factor. Of course, such markets will be the best market to be explored since business is done for profit and the market which can give more profit will always be the best market whether it is new and unknown as well. Say, a ball pen has the best quality over the existing ball pens in its segment and usage, but unless not being sold in better market will always get less revenue over inferior ball pens which are in best market where the demand is more for ball pens and for quality.

After listening such simple things, the gentleman said, Mr Becker even I knew this but you made me understand the simple analogy and now I am sure to give some promising result to my management. We shall be discussing other aspects of other sessions in due course of time, meanwhile, simply understand the fact that business is for profit and it is always dominated by demand and supply.

Looking for Export, but how to Export? Is this the question which hovers the most in the mind of every person looking to venture beyond boundaries of one’s country .Ofcourse, this was also the problem of Mr Nath , the marketing head of a corporate which wanted that they should also start export as their product is of very high standard .Whereas, inferior products than their products have good command in international market.

This made him to see me as to how to go for it .Before that they had no experience of international trade. The over confidence about their product with ignorance about international market was biggest challenge for me to make him understand that it is not always better product which can be exported but a lot matters which if does not exist , then transaction cannot be completed.

Anyhow, the gentleman agreed to give up the thought that only quality matters but various factors dominate an international business.

The factors which need to be understood for international business are:

a) Piloting with proper product – Even if one is manufacturing various products say three products and have very good market share in all of the three products , then too , the proper product has to be identified .

Here, one will say that ok , the theory is fine , but how to conclude that it is a proper product , then the answer has to be found by the person dealing in the products as he is the best judge in that case .Because, such person can only understand the minor aspects of any change if demanded or compelled in international market

b) Finding Proper Market - Every market has only one golden rule which is demand and supply compliment each other. The proper product should also get the most proper market. Since, merely because everything can be bought and sold in a market , any market cannot be said to be proper market.

Say, if ink pen has high demand in Russia and has very good potential , but it is being tried to be sold to USA which has least takers , then such market cannot be said to be proper market for ink pen.

This simple analogy if understood by an exporter at an early date , it can bring wonders for him as success of any international business is dependant upon proper market

The very next question which arises is that how to find out as to which is the best potential market. This question has solution on studying the following :

i) Research on customers behaviour in different countries

ii) Data on demand of a particular products in a particular country

iii) Export import data of the targeted countries

These all will give a strong signal that which country is having best potential for one’s product.

c) Product Specification in potential market- the very next step which comes as most important factor is identifying and matching the specification of demanded products and successfully implying in your potential product before it can be explored for exporting .

The product specification has to be considered in following important terms:

i) Segment usage

ii) Packing

iii) Warranty and after sales service

iv) Pricing

v) Pattern, shape ,size, color etc

On understanding the above factors, a exporter can have confidence to place the product in the potential market.

Hope , lot of unsolved puzzles are solved and many more will be in future as well. In the following sessions , we shall be highlighting about other crucial factors so that the fear of how to and shall I export will permanently vanish from the minds of manufacturers, exporters, trades, suppliers of the world including India.

Unemployment, Financial crises are the major issues for every body. These days people are frequently going through the words like Global economic meltdown, International financial slowdown, Recession etc. Many of the people are highly affected by the results of all these. This fire dragon is burning everything by throwing the fire all around. These resulting drastic changes in lifestyle of many in score of ways.

Currently we are going frequently through the sentences telling the peril effects of this global economic slowdown on numerous company employers of various sectors. This downturn, of course left negative marks on business too. Many businesses are going through and facing effects of this economic evil, commonly named as ‘Global Meltdown’. The effect of this slowdown on business sector is resulting directly in a negative way on its various phases including export-import sector, which is one of the crucial parts of any kind of business.

Regarding this, the report of Federation of Indian Export Organisation (Fieo) tells that the manufacturing Industries here, have recorded steepest decline in the sector of export-import. This proved correct when we take a look of exports done in some industries. This reveals that the handicraft export stepped down by 54 per cent in December 2008 as compared to that in December 2007. While Gems& Jewelry, one of the segments most affected by economic slowdown and the textile industries are contracted by 27 & 21 per cent respectively. This gives us broader idea about the effects of economic meltdown on export-import trade.

While talking about the worldwide export-import trade in the current scenario of meltdown, ‘The exporters need to diversify to Asia & Africa to escape from the recession in traditional markets in the west’ – are the words of Director-General of Research and information systems for developing countries. This reveals that exporting goods or products from Asian & African countries could be proved as the helping hand for getting free from the recession in western traditional markets to some extent. This obviously is excellent for the countries in Asia & Africa, which in tern is the chance for them to broaden their horizons in the export sector.

Among all the Asian countries if we talk particularly about India then according to the Union Commerce Secretary, Mr. Pillai, India’s export performance is much better as compared to the rest of Asian countries. The two countries with major economies have released their January export figures, which are extremely lower than those of India. ‘Vietnam’, which is one of the countries having major economies has a negative growth rate of 24.2 per cent and ‘South Korea’, another country having major economies has 32 per cent of negative growth rate. While in case of India, in October the merchandise exports were decline by 12.1 per cent which was improved to 9.9 per cent in November and just dropped down by 1.1 per cent in December. This shows India’s excellent export performance in comparison with other Asian countries.

At here, the government needs to pay the crucial role by taking some major steps. It needs to provide some social security to the retrenched workers in the export sector, as exporters were loosing out because competing countries like China, which referred as a global export powerhouse. China had provided additional concession to their exporters, which has had beneficial for them to price their products more competitively.

Government needs to fulfill the demands of global exporters. It should continue the stimulus packages to boost the economy in the year 2009-10, for getting rid of global slowdown. During the coming fiscal the public expenditure needs to be stepped up to counter the slowdown.

India, so far has shied away from large scale manufacturing exports. However, as per McKinsey Report, ‘Made in India’ brand will be the next big thing in the upcoming years. With developed nations trying to manufacture and source products from low cost countries (LCCs), it is predicted that in the coming years, India is likely to gain significantly from this evolving global trend. The biggest USP that will help India leap-frog is its educated cheap work-force.

According to the report, India’s manufacturing exports was US$40 billion in 2002 which will increase approximately to US$300 billion by 2015, which roughly translates into 3.5 per cent in world manufacturing trade.

Moreover, the increase in manufacturing exports will create 25-30 million new jobs in the manufacturing domain and add 1 percent to India’s annual GDP growth rate. However, to go full-throttle in manufacturing exports the Indian manufacturers will need to assume a global outlook, marketing flair, cost-efficiency, and prudently select the product segments, where they can gain the maximum vantage point. Improvement in taxation, infrastructure, SEZs, and skill enhancement should also be focused upon to help India climb up the export ladder.

SKILL-INTENSIVE INDUSTRIES IN FOCUS FOR MANUFACTURING EXPORTS

It is reported in 2002, US imported good worth US$1,300-US$1,400 from LCCs. Labour-intensive industries like toys, apparel and footwear and skill-intensive industries like computer hardware and consumer electronics formed a huge part of US imports.

The Low Cost Countries which actively exported their products to US included, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, India, South Africa, Turkey, Brazil, Indonesia, Thailand, Poland, Russia, Mexico and the Philippines.

From now onwards, the offshoring will include skill-intensive industries such as auto components, industrial electronics and specialty chemicals. This will result in increased exports of goods from LCC, from the current US$1,300-US$1,400 billion to US$4,000-US$4,500 billion by 2015.

The factors that will aid this growth rate are: growing strong supplier base in LCCs, margin pressure in players in home markets and the unshackling of regulatory barriers enforced by World Trade Centre.

INDIA HAS THE CAPACITY TO CAPTURE ABOUT US$300 BILLION IN MANUFACTURING EXPORTS BY 2015

India’s manufacturing exports in 2002 was US$40 billion, way below China’s manufacturing exports US$ 300 billion, Taiwan’s US$ 145 billion, MexicoUS$ 140 billion, Malaysia’s US$78 billion and Thailand’s US$55 billion. Notwithstanding its restrained start, India still can make it to the top three in terms of exports, by 2015. In 2002, India’s export’s was just 0.2 percent of the total world exports. Now, the economy aspires to achieve 3.5 percent by 2015.

Powered by skill intensive industries like auto components and pharmaceuticals, cheaper wage rates, good engineering skills, well set-up raw material bases, a growing suppliers list and evolving domestic demand will help India script a new chapter in manufacturing exports.

In-depth study, demonstrates that of the approximately US$300 billion targeted of manufacturing exports, US$70-US$90 billion could be easily gained through just four segments –apparel, specialty chemicals, auto components and electrical and electronic products.

India total exports in these four sectors in 2002 were just US$ 10 billion. In apparel alone, global trade could raise from US$200 billion in 2002 to over US$300 billion by 2015. Of this, India can grow from US$6 billion in 2002 to US$25-US$30billion by 2015, i.e., thereby can earn the reputation of being the second-largest LCC exporter with 8-10 percent of global trade. China has currently captured 20 percent of the world trade and in the future may capture 40-50 percent of the world trade.

When it comes to auto components, LCC offshoring is poised to reach US$375 billion by 2015. India should attempt to capture US$20-US$25 billion of this by 2015. India’s exports in 2003 touched US$1 billion, which means the growth rate required is almost 30 percent a year.

Competing LCCs, for instance, Thailand and China have been trying to achieve phenomenal growth rate over the last three years in this sector, so we don’t see any reason why India should stay behind.

In electrical and electronic products, India should bid to capture US$15-US$18 billion, in comparison to exports of US$1.2 billion in 2002.

Quite a few Indian companies are already made headway in areas such as pharmaceutical intermediates and India is leading LCC exporters in segments like dyes and intermediates, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and agrochemicals for crop protection.

India can definitely achieve the aforesaid goals if Indian companies, the central and state governments and MNCs go hammer and tongs to achieve this goal.

Terrorists came and accomplished their mission with pat on their back from cross the border, but are we that much helpless that anyone can do anything in INDIA.

One has to believe that anyone can do anything with INDIA, just see the incidences that occurred in Mumbai, India. On 26 November 2008, handful youths started their journey for inhuman acts and with a mission of terrorism, safely landed to Mumbai and with honour they were able to use police vans and fired as per their wishes, they could easily shoot persons at CST, Mumbai, went to every destined places in Mumbai which included Nariman House, Hospital and finally for comfort landed up with Taj Hotel and Oberoi Hotel. With sympathy and due respect even head and top brass of ATS (Anti Terrorist Squad) got killed who rushed to Hospital so as to check the terrorists, but result was something else.

Is this bloodbath the terrorism or terrorism is due to non management of security? For God sake, who is accountable to the citizen of this nation? With due respect to the feeling of all who announces compensation , is the compensation an end to grief of one who got killed for no reason or it is for the fault of the system in which every citizen falls as one amongst them is also in government and such citizen makes government. Afterall, all are citizen of India.

Is the Government responsible or security agency or nation as whole? Is this duty of each and every citizen to check the terrorism in any form or security agency who is meant only for security.

What is the meaning of security? Is it the security of a place after the bomb blast occurs or any mis-happenings occurs OR securing that nothing goes wrong. For what sort of security, security agencies and our Intelligence agencies are made for and handsome money is being spent for only sake of security or security is really secured.

Of course, security is vigilance, planning for leaving no loopholes, prepared to combat any attempt of terrorism, preventing any untoward incidences, securing that nothing will go wrong. Has any one saw how many attempts were failed so that we can say yes INDIA has security agencies and if yes they are really meant for security and even if the answer is yes, then they are really knowing how to manage security and even if they know all, then why such incidences occurring again and again.

Alas, media is highlighting so much about security but what is security all about, who plans out security and it is for whom. Is it VIP only and if it is the thing then there is also failure in security even for VIP, otherwise, attack on parliament would not have surfaced at any point of time.

It is irony that over coverage is given for reasons best known to media and press and over coverage is given by political parties to pull down the governing body so that they get a chance but no over coverage is given to planning for security and its implementation.

It is the high time when security has to be understood with its grammatical meaning and not with the fact that security lapse or any other reasons as every reason has so many reasons inbuilt within. The blaming game has to be stopped.

Who is responsible for security and when our system of governance and security agencies will understand and implement the security in its right perspective?

How many of us knows , that what measures were implemented after bomb blast in trains in Mumbai , attack in parliament, serial bomb blast in Jaipur, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, surat (failed one), Mumbai and Delhi and many which has fainted in our memory as sad moments often have short memories so this the reason that terrorist knows the nerve that INDIA security is only temporary when something goes wrong that they come here for a twenty-twenty cricket match and always carry a match of bullets and blood with one sided game that our system fails to give winning cup to our security agency.

The attack on the Mumbai on 27November 2008 is the last phase of terrorism, can any one give guarantee that this was the last terrorism in INDIA, do any governing person has dare to commit to the netizens of INDIA who have elected them to chair the government that YES , THIS WAS THE LAST INCIDENCE OF TERRORISM.

How long we are meant for such incidences, is this the fate of INDIA to die with the bullets, bomb or any other thing are we the nation of coward people or people who fights under the guise that leave it I am not effected the person dies were not mine, so why shall I bother , but what is the guarantee that the other day you or your relatives will not be in the list of dead people . How long this irony will be there , are we united to depart from our responsibilities , are we united for gossips and showing sympathies for dead people with oh my god why it has happened and why they are killing our people .

For these handful people, their fun starts with funny things that they know that entire INDIA was knowing that Jaipur blast was alarming and cautioned security of nation, then too, Ahmedabad, Surat, Mumbai and Delhi occurred and we failed to plan to secure any bomb blast.

REALLY CANT WE DO ANY THING AND REALLY THIS MUMBAI KILLINGS WAS LAST INCIDENCE, IS THIS THE FATE OF INDIA, IS THIS THE DEMOCRACY FOR TERRORISTS OR OF INDIANS!

ALL I WANT TO CONVEY THAT ALL NEED NOT TAKE WEAPON IN HAND AND FIGHT WITH SUCH PERSON BUT WHEREVER POSSIBLE EVERY BODY IF CONTRIBUTES AND CAN DO SOMETHING FOR PREVENTING TERRORISM WHETHER PEOPLE ARE IN SECURITY AGENCIES, GOVERNMENT, PRESS, EDIA, WORKING PEOPLE IN ANY CAPACITY BUT ALL HAVE TO CONTRIBUTE AT LEAST SOMETHING EVEN BY BEING VIGILANT SO THAT IN NIGHT, THEY CAN ENSURE THAT MORNING WILL BE WITH THEIR OWN OPEN EYES.

LET DEMOCRACY BE OF INDIANS AND NOT OF TERRORISTS! INDIA WILL AND INDIA HAS GOT TO DO IT, AS WE ARE NOT HERE TO DIE FOR THEM.

Scaling down in US, Scaling Up in India

Believe it or not, IBM (International Business Machines Corp.) one of the most renowned Information Technology companies, is all set to flex its muscles in India. Though lay offs and pay cuts seem to be the order of the day, IBM believes in strengthening its presence in India. As of now the company is downsizing elsewhere. Last month, IBM cut 5,000 business-services jobs, mainly in the U.S.

Over the years, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. and Infosys Technologies Ltd. have been attracting US companies with good –quality, cheap labour. Now IBM the world’s biggest computer-services provider is apparently targeting India to beat the local outsourcing giants at their own game.

As per the latest reports, IBM has inked contracts with few of India’s topmost companies, including, Bharti Airtel Ltd and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd., the former partner of Goldman Sachs Groups Inc. in India. The approach adopted might help the MNC reap rich dividends in the long term, as India’s economy doesn’t seem that gloomy in the upcoming years. IBM currently has around 73,000 Indian employees on its pay roll. The good news being that the company intends to intake employees from India’s Satyam Computer services, a company entangled in India Inc.’s biggest corporate fraud.

Indian markets are going through a metamorphosis, from being a back office operator to assuming the role of one of the fasted growing economies having a market flooded with fast-growing companies. The services market is worth almost $5 billion, according to research firm

As per the projections of International Monetary Fund, India’s economy will grow 5.3 percent in the year starting April 1, while U.S. economy will shrink 2.6 percent this year. No wonder, IBM not just rode, but galloped its way into the Indian markets, to cash in on the opportunities available.

IBM’s trade deals with India have been consistently on the rise, and in fact its being more than from any other country in the past three years. IBM’s sales in India leap-frogged by 26 percent last year, compared with 15 percent in China and 18 percent in Brazil.

IBM, currently caters to more than 13 percent of the Indian market, which includes technology and business consulting services, according to one of the well-known research firms, while Tata Consultancy, the biggest India-based computer- services company, merely has 9.7 percent contribution while Wipro Ltd. has minuscule 4.5 percent of the total domestic share. Infosys, the No. 2 Indian services company globally, has just 0.2 percent of its domestic market.

IBM had set up its shop in India in the 1950s, but had to pull the plug half way with political situation turning hostile for them. IBM started refocusing on the market again about a decade ago, by starting a local research lab in 1998

For this the exhibition area has been chalked out according to different types of industries and sectors. One area has been planned out for information technology, engineering and electrical; another has been drawn up for roads and ports, pharma and bio-tech, power and gas, chemicals and petrochemicals. Other sections are for the sectors like mining, SEZ - DMIC - PCPIR, health and medical, urban development and infrastructure, environment, education, textiles, dairy and agriculture, forest, international small industries and tourism.

Through this huge set up one can have broad idea about the event that has been planned for the global promotion of the state of Gujarat? This could be proved as the biggest step taken by the government of Gujarat towards the international business. All this is hoping to attract foreign companies towards the company and will help Indian companies to set their business overseas.
